Anthropic announced a new initiative offering its Claude for Enterprise and Claude for Government software packages to all three branches of the U.S. federal government for a symbolic fee of $1. The one-year program grants civilian executive agencies, the legislative branch, and the judiciary continuous access to the company's frontier AI models, paired with dedicated technical support to accelerate workflow integration. The offer builds directly on the recent inclusion of Claude on the General Services Administration schedule, which streamlined public procurement pathways.

To handle sensitive agency workloads, Claude for Government maintains a FedRAMP High authorization, the federal government's most stringent security standard for unclassified data. Public sector practitioners can deploy these models within their existing cloud and software infrastructure using cloud partners such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Palantir. This setup allows participating agencies to leverage cutting-edge artificial intelligence without relinquishing command over their internal data streams.

The $1 package expands upon several significant existing public sector implementations. For instance, the Department of Defense selected Claude through a contract carrying a $200 million ceiling with the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office to bolster national security initiatives. Additionally, 10,000 scientists and researchers at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory use Claude on a daily basis to speed up complex scientific discovery, while the District of Columbia Department of Health relies on the platform to help residents access public health services in multiple languages.

Alongside the expanded access initiative, Anthropic is addressing model safety by granting employee-like system access to METR, an independent nonprofit that evaluates frontier AI architectures. The organization is also in early talks with Hugging Face regarding safety evaluations. Agency leadership looking to adopt the one-year package can initiate onboarding by reaching out to pubsec@anthropic.com.
