Cursor Expands Cloud Agents to 500 Repositories
Cursor has updated its Cloud Agents with support for 500 repositories, 5x faster startup times, and programmatic control via a new Environments API in public beta.

Cursor has rolled out an update to its cloud-based autonomous coding infrastructure, expanding multi-repository capacity to 500 repositories per environment and accelerating startup times by roughly five times. The release also introduces interactive canvases with shareable URLs and launches the Environments API in public beta, extending the Cloud Agents API v1. Cursor reports that autonomous cloud agents now author over 35% of merged pull requests internally, up from 30% when the capability debuted in February.
The new Environments API gives engineering teams programmatic control over agent runtime setups, allowing developers to create, list, retrieve, update, and delete environments directly from code using an environment.json configuration. Teams can spawn isolated runtime environments for specific incident response tasks or pull requests and destroy them upon completion. Additionally, the Canvas feature allows agents to generate React-based interfaces containing charts, tables, and prompt-triggering buttons that can be shared via full-screen web links as lightweight internal tools.
For practitioners managing large polyrepo systems, the ability to coordinate changes across 500 repositories in a single run dramatically broadens agent utility across client apps, microservices, and infrastructure code. However, developers should note that the current API reference still caps repository array parameters at 300 in creation request bodies, meaning integrations should treat 300 as the practical limit until request validation updates. Teams adopting the beta API should also pin SDK versions, enforce strict credential boundaries, and measure startup performance against their own setups.
