Bluesky Expands Attie App to Generate Web Apps
Bluesky has updated its experimental Attie app to let users generate interactive websites and games using AI models, offering immediate access to the network's 47 million registered users.

At TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, decentralized social network Bluesky launched a major expansion to its experimental Attie platform. The updated tool allows users without formal software development backgrounds to generate games, quizzes, interactive polls, and custom websites using artificial intelligence models. Originally designed to help users build custom social feeds, Attie now focuses on what Bluesky CEO Toni Schneider describes as social vibe coding, transforming traditional solo coding into shared, community-driven development.
The interactive applications created through Attie run directly on the open AT Protocol (ATProto) framework and link directly to a creator's ATProto identity. Users can power their projects by connecting their own custom AI models or choosing from available open-weight models. To streamline the creation process, Attie generates tailored project recommendations based on the content of a creator's public Bluesky profile.
A core advantage for practitioners is solving the distribution hurdle that often plagues indie software projects. Bluesky COO Rose Wang noted that software generated in Attie connects natively to Bluesky's distribution pipeline, giving new interactive creations instant access to the platform's 47 million registered users. This native distribution model provides immediate utility for creators looking to test software concepts within active user groups.
To support further developer expansion, Bluesky is also addressing long-standing protocol limitations. The organization is currently alpha testing private data functionality on ATProto—which Schneider identified as the most frequent developer request—with plans for a general release by the end of the year. Schneider, a former Automattic chief executive and True Ventures partner who took over leadership after former CEO Jay Graber became chief innovation officer in March, sees these combined updates as a way to drive engagement across the decentralized social ecosystem through smaller, tailored group experiences.
